Ambition is a killer.

Yesterday was my last day working at Roofmart this year and let me tell you what a relief it is to know that I don't have to go back there until some time in the new year!

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed working there as much as one can enjoy working in a stock yard. The guys in the yard were great and the people in the office where... The guys in the yard where great! That's not really fair either. The people in the office were doing the best they could, there was just a massive communication gap between the yard and the office that caused a little bit of animosity. I will miss most of them as well.

The reason I feel the massive amount of relief is that now I'm not torn between two occupations: school and work. It was like being transported between worlds for a while. Work required that I get up early and commit my full attention to the yard for four hours on Mondays and nine hours on Tuesdays ant Thursdays. Meanwhile, school demanded nine hours a week of class time plus double that for homework and assignments. On Wednesdays class goes from 4:00 pm until 9:15 pm. That's not very nice when you need to get up the next day at 5:30 am in order to be at work for 7:00 until 4:30. It was a long day.

Now I have time to sleep properly and devote some serious time to studying and self-care. I also get to wake up with Nic every day now instead of sneaking around the house getting ready for work three times a week.

I'm looking forward to going back eventually, but for the time being, I'm relieved to be out for a while.
